Girls and young women can be protected from the most common causes of cervical cancer. The cervical cancer vaccine is free for girls and young women born on or after 1 January 1990.
The flu can be a serious and sometimes life-threatening infection. It is not the same as having a bad cold. Yearly flu immunisation offers the best protection. It is especially important for children with certain long-term health conditions, who may develop complications from the flu.
Measles is a potentially serious disease caused by a virus. It's very infectious – measles can spread very easily from one person to another. Immunisation is the only way to prevent measles.
There is currently a whooping cough epidemic in New Zealand. There are epidemics every three to four years. Babies under one year old can become very ill and may end up in hospital. The best way to protect your baby against whooping cough is to immunise them on time.
