What are DHBs (District Health Boards)?

DHBs (District Health Boards) are responsible for providing health and disability services in their district.
 
There are 21 DHBs in New Zealand. They have existed since January 1 2001.  Together, the 21 DHBs are responsible for providing health and disability services for the people of New Zealand.
