Direct Debit Service Agreement

It also details what our obligations are to you as your Direct Debit provider. Please keep this agreement for future reference. It forms part of the terms and conditions of your Direct Debit Request (DDR) and should be read in conjunction with your DDR authorisation.

How to complete the New Graduate Application Form

Certified Practising Membership with provisional CPSP status is for those who have successfully completed an accredited Australian entry level course in the last three years. Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status is recognised by the Australian Government, Medicare, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and most private health funds as an ‘Eligible Allied Health Care Professional’.

Membership Application form

This application form is to be used if you are applying for Association membership for the first time or were last a member more than two years ago. Please read the Information for Applicants on the back page before completing this form. The original application form must be mailed to Speech Pathology Australia. Scanned or faxed applications will not be accepted. Any person joining or renewing mid membership period will be required to pay back dated fees to the beginning of the membership period. Pro-rated membership fees are not permitted.

Scope of Practice in Australia

Speech pathology scope of practice in Australia (Scope of practice) is a core Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) document. This core document supersedes and replaces the Scope of practice in speech pathology (SPA, 2015). The Speech pathology scope of practice document aligns with other SPA core documents: the Professional standards for speech pathologists in Australia (SPA, 2020a) (Professional standards), the Code of ethics (SPA, 2020b) and Evidence-based practice for speech pathology in Australia (SPA, 2021). The Speech pathology scope of practice in Australia serves as a resource for speech pathologists, consumers, educators, employers, other professionals, regulating bodies, government agencies, funding bodies and the general public. This document provides a definition of ‘practice’ and describes scope of speech pathology practice in relation to the roles, networks and contemporary practice settings in Australia. The practice definition in this document is consistent with and used across multiple SPA functions including the Certification program guide for certified practising speech pathologists (SPA, 2022).

Speech Pathology Australia Annual Report 2022

2022 proved to be the year in which Speech Pathology Australia capitalised on all the patience, planning, and measures that the Association had implemented over the previous few years. For many, it seems a distant memory, but we started January 2022 with some trepidation. The Omicron strain of the COVID-19 virus was known, but we still were uncertain as to how its virulence and severity stood in comparison to previous iterations of the virus. However, what we had learnt over previous years was that, as an Association, we certainly could adapt to an ever changing professional and societal landscape, and we now had a shared vision and desire to move forward with our strategic priorities.

CPD Requirements Flyer

Continuing Professional Development (CPD At a minimum, the 20 hours of learning must include: • Two hours of receiving professional support (Code S); and • Two hours of learning that support culturally safe and responsive practices and services when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities (Code C).
