Whare Kahikā is a checklist that allows you to check, room by room, that your home is safe for tamariki. The app has been developed by Safekids Aotearoa with support from ACC.
Whare Kahikā is another term for ancestral home. It represents the inherent qualities in Māori knowledge systems and customs. These qualities inform safety mechanisms for whānau, hapū and iwi.
For more information about the app, check the Safekids Aotearoa website [1].
Whare Kahikā is available for download from the App Store [2] and Google Play. [3] It is also available as a web version [4] for those who can't download the app to a smartphone. The app is available in te reo Māori and English. For more information about the app, check the Safekids Aotearoa app website. [5]
