Developmental hip dysplasia is a condition where a baby's hip joint doesn't develop correctly. This can cause the hip joint to be unstable and to dislocate occasionally.

Perthes disease is a rare condition affecting the hip joint in tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people). Common symptoms include a limp and pain in the hip, leg or knee.

Slipped upper femoral epiphysis (SUFE) is a condition involving the hip joint of tamariki (children). It is most common just before or during adolescence.

Irritable hip is one of the most common causes of limping in tamariki (children). The medical name for irritable hip is transient synovitis. Irritable hip is not serious and your child will get better with rest and time.
